Essentials Gift Aid Workshop - London
Time & Location
About The Workshop
Delivered by Phil Robson of Giftease. For over 19 years GiftEase™ has been working with the charity sector to bring clarity and transparency to the Gift Aid tax claim process.
The Gift Aid Essentials workshop is a must if you and your organisation operate Gift Aid. Please note this workshop does not cover Retail Gfit Aid.
During day 1 of the workshop we look at the background to HMRC Gift Aid, how you must maintain the Gift Aid audit trail and how to make a tax claim.
The workshop will give you the confidence to know if you are Gift Aid compliant and about the HMRC rules and regulations. We explain what can invalidate a gift aid declaration and what your organisation needs to do to reduce the risk of failing an HMRC audit. We also look at the small donations scheme (GASDS) and what to claim and more importantly what not to claim! Rules for this scheme are regularly reviewed by HMRC and your knowledge needs to remain up to date.
To end day 1, we take you through what to expect from an HMRC Audit process and how to make sure your organisation is prepared, and has the best chance of having, a successful audit.
Day 2 of the workshop will give you an in-depth understanding of the benefit rules and how to ensure that you are complying with these Gift Aid rules in relation to:
- Membership
- Individual Giving
- Event Sponsorship
- Small Donations Scheme
- Point of Sales
The workshop will look at how not to exceed the benefit rules, how to restructure your fundraising package to maximise gift aid and the importance the benefits rules have on ALL aspects of Gift Aid.
Delegates will be asked to complete a pre-workshop questionnaire to establish level of Gift Aid knowledge for the group. Lunch will be provided on both days and electronic handouts will be sent post workshop along with a certificate of attendance issued to delegates who actively participate in the workshop – this can be used as part of your audit to evidence training.
Who should attend: Anyone who works with any aspect of Gift Aid: fundraisers, finance teams and volunteers.
Timing: 1st Day 9.30am – 4.30pm, 2nd Day 9.30am – 4.30pm
