The reality for many of us working in the charity sector is that we are given the role of running the gift aid system/making tax claims, alongside the rest of our job without having any in-depth training.


Most of us know about Gift Aid, we understand that you have to be a tax payer and that you need to have a valid declaration – but for some this is where it starts to become more complex and our knowledge starts to waiver.


HMRC provides many pages of guidance about the rules and regulations of Gift Aid and what you have to do as a charity. For some people the HMRC website will give you everything you need to be able to confidently run Gift Aid.

But for many others, more in-depth training will be the most effective way of gaining the confidence you need to know that you are correctly running Gift Aid for your charity. Having more knowledge will also ensure you are maximising the amount of gift aid you can claim.
